What Purity Products is Doing to Cut Waste and Increase Eco Friendliness
It is inevitable that any retail company will use a great deal of paper and plastic materials, but companies like Purity Products are making an effort to cut back on waste and leave a smaller impact on the environment. Purity Products is a leading nutraceuticals company that has been offering a variety of health and nutrition products for years, many of which are sold through catalogues and shipped to customers in paper and plastic containers. To do their part, Purity Products is drastically cutting back on the waste in their marketing, packaging and shipping procedures.
For starters, Purity Products will be reducing the amount of paper they use in their catalogues by just a small amount, which will add up to the big impact of a 14 percent reduction in paper consumption per year. Purity Products is also increasing their online marketing efforts with targeted Web-based advertising, which does not use any paper at all. They are also putting systems in place to use more recycled materials in their catalogues in the future.
As far as the paper in their packaging and shipping goes, Purity Products is working with two vendors who supply shipping cartons and packing materials made of approximately 30 percent recycled material. They are also using boxes made of between 25 and 90 percent recycled materials. And in the future, Purity Products plans to use more water or soy based inks on their shipping materials.
Purity Products uses plastics to package their merchandise, as most nutraceuticals companies do, but they want to reduce their eco-impact by reduce their usage of non-recycled plastic bottles and labels. Purity Products is also researching alternatives to plastic bottles that are cost efficient and biodegradable.
While these efforts won’t pay off overnight, companies such as Purity Products are slowly but surely reducing waste and leaving more precious resources for future generations to enjoy.
